Here are some exciting stories from the African Bitcoin space:
1. Jack Dorsey-Backed East African Bitcoin Miner Gridless Raises $2M
Gridless, a Bitcoin mining company that helps generate new sources of energy in rural communities in East Africa, has secured $2 million in a seed investment round led by Bitcoin venture-capital firm Stillmark and payments company Block, a firm that Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey leads. 2. Paxful CEO Says Working to Remove ETH from Platform
Paxful CEO Ray Youssef has announced that Paxful will be delisting Ethereum from its Platform. Click here to see the Tweet.
3. Strike and Bitnob Partner To Bring Bitcoin Remittance Payments To The Masses
Strike and Bitnob have joined forces to offer a faster and cheaper money remmitance solution using Bitcoin. This system is going to work by allowing users to send money from one country to another using Bitcoin as the medium of exchange. Click here to read more.
4. Bitcoin Lightning Network to be used in fiat transfers between Europe and Africa
Fund transfer between Europe and Africa typically requires a third-party facilitator like Western Union, which relies on centralized entities but a new partnership between CoinCorner and Bitnob will allow users across continents to perform cross-border transactions involving multiple currencies. 5. Nigeria Announces New Cash Withdrawal Restrictions — ATMs Limited to Less Than $44 per Day
If there is any time to orange pill Nigerians or create a Bitcoin payment alternative, it is now with the recent announcement from the Central Bank of Nigeria to limit daily transactions to less than $44. Click here to read more.

1. Run With Bitcoin South Africa Meetups
Paco de La India is in South Africa and is organizing a series of meetups at five locations in South Africa! Johannesburg and Pretoria meetups held on the 15th and 18th of December respectively, Durban meetup will be held today by 5 pm, the Cape Town meetup will be held on the 27th of December and the Mossel Bay meetup will be held on the 30th of December. 2. Nigerian Bitcoin Conference
There will be a Bitcoin conference in Nigeria from the 24th to the 25th of March 2023, three African Bitcoiners have been announced to speak at the conference and they are Heritage Foladun, Okin, and Guantai Kathurima. See more info here.
