1. Qala receives $100K from HRF to support African Bitcoin Developers
The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has donated 2 billion satoshis (about $475,000) from its Bitcoin Development Fund to assist ten global activities. One of the beneficiaries is Africa’s Qala program, which aims to train the future generation of Bitcoin and Lightning Network engineers from Africa. The fellowship program has been awarded $100,000 to continue the 13-week fellowship and to sponsor six Qala fellows to participate in the Oslo Freedom Forum. Click here to read more.
2. Decentralized social media platform Nostr boosts the capacity of Bitcoin’s Lightning Network (LN) over an all-time high of 5,000 Bitcoin
The Lightning Network (LN) is being driven by the launch of Nostr, a simple, open protocol that enables global, decentralized, censorship-resistant social media. Damus, a Twitter competitor, is built on Nostr and has integrated various LN wallets. Over 600,000 users have signed up for Nostr, and Nostr supports the Bitcoin payment network through Nostr Zap. 3. Nigerian Central Bank Seeks New CBDC Tech Partner in a Bid to Improve E-Naira User Experience
More than a year after launching its central bank digital currency with partner Bitt Inc., the Central Bank of Nigeria is reportedly looking for a new technology partner.
It is anticipated that the new partner will assist the central bank in putting into place a system that will give it more control over the digital currency. Click here to read more.
4. Nigeria Bitcoin Conference has been Cancelled
Satoshis Journal has issued a statement on Twitter stating that the long-awaited Nigeria Bitcoin conference, which was scheduled to take place on December 24th and 25th, has been canceled due to the immediate disassociation of Oluwasegun Kosemani, one of the conference’s top planners. from Satoshi’s Journal.
